I made this while pregnant. A beginning knitter - it took MONTHS to finish. She was only in it for a few short weeks
before she started looking like a stuffed marshmallow. Oh well.
Birthday blanket pattern from Debby Ware. This was not the funnest blanket to make (probably being I was a beginner and made a lot of mistakes along the way). I am really glad I stuck it out with all the repetition - I love the finished results. I only completed one side however - didn't want to make it twice.
The yarn shop down the road helped me create this pattern from a hat sample I took to them. I found the flower pattern online. I loved knitting the brimmed hat - lots of fun!
I made this hat from a pattern in Itty Bitty Hats by Susan B. Anderson. The wreath of flowers framing her face was sure an attention getter! Too bad she grew out of the had so quickly!
Inspired by a post on bluegarter.com - I quickly purchased Weldon’s Practical Needlework, Vol. 4 and two balls of Rowan Cashsoft. The pattern states for a child of three so I knit on US #1 needles. The size turned out perfect for my 9 month old.
Originally from an old Japanese knitting book, my version was shared by another knitter after seeing her completed baby dress on her blog:

The pattern was in Japanese which made it all the more interesting.
Yarn: 150g of Nashua DK cotton in bright pink.
Completed: October 27, 2007
My first knitting project for my 10 year old daughter. It took almost a year due to the fact I learned to knit as a thrower which is a very slow way to knit. I had to learn knitting techniques as I knit this blanket. Thrilled when I finally finished!
Pattern: Building Blocks
Book: 100 Afghan Squares to Knit by Debbie Abrahams

Brooke's First Birthday Dress!
Dale of Norway Book 164. Made with Baby Ull - 100% merino wool.
From Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitter's Almanac, February baby sweater.
Brooke is a year now, I wanted to knit her a this baby sweater after seeing a 12 mo. size on the web. Knit with Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran #11. Fun to knit!
Queen of Hearts Afghan. Started this over three years ago after I completed my first knitted Debbie Abrahams blanket for Reiley. Her sister Kendall has been waiting for it for so long - I knit cats into the blanket which was not in the original pattern - it's been unfinished for so long she doesn't like cats anymore! I was in between projects, waiting for yarn in the mail that I decided to take it out. I have it pieced together I just have to add the border and do the painful weaving in of the ends on the backside.
Brooke would often watch me knit her dress - she would grab it and try to wear it. She was so happy when I finally put it on her! She kept bending down to look at her new dress then say DRESS! She showed everyone her new dress at her daddy's birthday party by lifting it up when someone looked at her.
I love vintage patterns for my daughter as they are usually so frilly. I knit this dress a little large for her because usually everything I knit for her she outgrows right away. I originally crocheted white flowers for the dress however I found these matching green fabric flowers and they gave the dress a child-like oomph I was looking for. Knit in Ornaghi Filati Bambo (very soft) with size 4 needles.
Knit from the top down from very easy to follow directions. Knit with Henry's Attic Inca Cotton which is 100% natural and undyed. I used US 9 needles and made it a little long to extend the dress life then she can wear it as a sweater.
Knit for Brooke's 2nd birthday however she will most likely wear it for her 3rd birthday as it was too big. I never got around to making the matching hat and sweater.
Size 1.5 needles. Knit with Dale of Norway / Delgarn Baby Ull yarn.
